happy bowling ball day // the time I almost died

March 14th is one of my favorite days. Not just because it's pi day, or Einstein's birthday, or even because it's the birthday of one of my favorite babies, but because it's bowling ball day.

6 years ago today I had a bowling ball fall off of the top of a flag pole onto my head. I was knocked unconscious and I fell off of the 5 ft. platform I was standing on. They took me to the hospital near where the accident had happened and then I was life flighted to the UofU neuro care clinic because they were worried about my spinal fluid leaking into my brain.

One severe concussion, one skull fracture, 8 (I think) staples, many prayers, flowers, get well cards, lemon ices from the nurses, and six years later here I am completely healed and totally fine.
But really, my mom will tell you that I'm not any worse off mentally than I was before.

I've blogged about this every year since it happened, so, you can read more details/thoughts and feelings hereherehere, & here. What I want you to know today is that miracles happen, angels exist, and if you're still alive and breathing today, you're here for a purpose. So, do something great.

And have a happy Bowling Ball Day.
