modbod review & giveaway CLOSED

Any of you heard of a little 'ol company called modbod?
#

"The Mod Bod has become a leader in the industry for style and quality. Founded in 2004, The Mod Bod is a leading designer and manufacturer of high quality modest apparel and accessories."

Yeah, that sounds right up my alley. Which is why I said yes when they asked me to do a review of their clothing. Oh, yeah. And one of those little things we like to call a giveaway.

black: perfect cap sleeve, raspberry: perfect tank, white & black: cami kit

Que slightly awkward pictures of me undressing.
(I like to keep my blog family friendly, you know. So allow me to inform you that I was wearing approximately 7 layers. You now have express permission to strip in your back yard whenever you have at least 2 other layers on underneath the item you're stripping. Kthx.)

I LOVE these shirts. The cami's go great under anything and they fit exceptionally well. They're just the right amount of stretchy.
The perfect tank is the one I like the least, and I still like it a lot. I've just had a rough time figuring out how to wear it. I'm thinking it'll go nicely with my brand new grey cardi though. Yeah?
As for the black perfect cap sleeve, I'm in love. SO comfortable, so perfect. And it goes great under anything.

Case in point: this super great 'fall-off-your-shoulders-all-day-and-look-baggy-on-purpose' shirt that I love.
When it's falling off your shoulders ever so fashionably, you're sharin' your bra straps with everyone. Soooo, the perfect cap sleeve is the perfect solution.

See.

Okay. So, now that you've seen how adorable I look in modbod, let's talk about how adorable YOU would look in modbod.
Stop blushing, you know it's true.

Here's the lowdown:

Mandatory Entry: Head on over to modbod's facebook page and like them. Then, come back here and leave a comment.

extra entries:
- blog, facebook, or tweet about this giveaway. Leave a comment for each.

Remember, you must be a follower of Elise's Pieces to win. Also, this giveaway is limited to residents of America and Canada. Also, also, this giveaway will end Friday, July 8th.
Go, fight, win.

natasha and derek - engagement sneaky peaky

I should definitely be sleeping and not blogging.

It has been a super long week. But a super good week. Full of snow, movie quotes, little debbies, ab workouts, zumba, stuffed tigers, vending machines, wife beaters, and muddy volleyball.

I love my life.

But at the same time, I am stuck. I'm graduating soon, life is changing, I've gotta get myself a big girl job, I've gotta make some goals, do some things with my life. You know?
I've got a lot of opportunity and a whole lot of big stuff coming.

And all I really want to do is lay on the grass and feel the cool breeze mixed with the warm summer sun. I want to smell the beautiful mountain air and hear the sounds of creaky aspen trees and rushing streams.

So, I'm going to hold on to the summer and bask in the bliss of these next few months before real life takes off like a speeding bullet.

namaste

For the last week and a half, I've had the incredible opportunity to tutor in an ESL (English as a second language) class room and a GED class room.

My favorite people that I had the chance to work with were some beautiful women from Brazillia, Taiwan, and Nepal in my GED class. And a whole group of incredible men and women from Nepal in the ESL class. These men and women are refugees, and they are incredible.

I learned many many things from them, though their English was limited, but the best thing I learned from them was the word "namaste".

If you've done yoga, you've probably heard the word before. Which I had. But hearing it from these incredible people and learning what it means sincerely touched my heart.

Namaste translates to "the divinity in me bows to the divinity in you." As the students walked into class each day, they would smile at us and say "Namaste, teacha! Namaste." And put their hands together and bow. Can you imagine how the world would change if we took the time to recognize the divinity, the light, and the beauty in everyone we met?

That's what beauty is to me. Recognizing the divinity within us all. Each one of us has an incredible potential, has dreams, has hopes, has heartaches, and has love. We all have passions for life. And that is what truly makes someone beautiful.

Through blogging, I've been able to meet some incredible, talented, amazing, and beautiful women. That's what inspired this post. YOU inspired this post. I'm only featuring six of you today, but let me tell you, there are hundreds of you that are truly beautiful who deserve to be counted as part of this post.

Janell says, "This isn't the most stunning picture of myself, but to me I am beautiful, because I'm happy, healthy, and feel super great about myself.  I'd just finished a 5K, and my kids and husband were there watching me.  I totally wanted to smile for pictures because weight, dress size, inches, and calories were not on my mind. I just felt good about an accomplishment and was just plain happy. :)"

Heidi says, "I think the missing element to a lot of missing beauty is love. When you love something it often becomes cherished or beautiful. When I love myself and feel the confidence of that love - I feel beautiful. When I love others - they are beautiful. When I focus on my positive I feel beautiful. We all have beauty. We need to find it. To see it. I love that I know who I am. That I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father and he created me and loves me and therefore I am ALWAYS beautiful. I just need to remember. I once heard that beauty is when you feel so beautiful on the inside, that it radiates on the outside."

Lindsey says, "True beauty is knowing who you are. Being comfortable enough to rock your uniqueness. Confidence enough to feel sexy in a pair of sweats with baby spit-up on your shirt. Saying this is who I am. I am beautiful, even if I'm not 110 pounds with the perfect hair and perfect skin and perfect teeth."

Kaycie says, "[True beauty is] understanding what makes something ugly or unwanted and loving it anyway. We all have flaws that make us less beautiful than we are. We need to love each other for the beauty that is there in all of us despite the unwanted and ugly qualities."

Megan says, "Beauty is being who God has called you to be, and being it with everything have and with the fullest confidence."

Maegan says, "True beauty comes from the heart... don't tell yourself that you would be prettier wearing those clothes, or dating that guy... True beauty is on the inside!  Have confidence in YOURself and everyone will notice!!"

These beautiful women know what they're talking about. Beauty is so much more than pretty hair or flawless skin. When you're smiling, when you know you've blessed someone else's life, when you are truly happy just to be yourself, that is when you are beautiful.

So to these wonderful women, and to all of you, I say Namaste, beautiful. Namaste.

all is well

have you been missing me this week?
I've been missing you.

I'm not going to tell you about how I haven't had time to blog, I'm not going to give you excuses, and I'm not going to make promises about when I'll be back on a normal blogging schedule.

But I will tell you that I've had an incredible week.
I've been teaching people.
And they've been teaching me.

I've had the opportunity to serve, learn, grow, and change.
And it has been so good.

So, if I'm in the middle of working on your blog design, or I haven't responded to your email, or you're waiting for the post with my special project, just know that I haven't forgotten about you. Forgive me for being slow and busy.

A special note on the beauty project post: it will get posted. I promise. Just not yet.
I don't want to rush it. So, be patient with me and know that it's coming.
Also, if any of you still want to add your two cents, email me at elisecreates@gmail.com with a picture of you and your definition of beauty.

One last thing. Tonight on my way home, I saw the most beautiful sunset.
In my family, we call this sky-blue-pink.
It's a color. Trust me.

I hope you saw the sunset too. And I hoped you loved it.
But, just so you know, this sunset was for me.
It said "Elise, everything will be okay, all is well."

and it is.

music and bowling balls

I believe that music has a way of touching hearts and changing lives.

When words fail, music speaks.

I suppose that's why I often add a youtube video to my posts. There are songs that tell the stories I'm trying to share with you SO much more than I could ever express through my typed words.

Many of you know my "bowling ball story". If you don't, you can read about it here and here. I wish I could express what that experience means to me. The semester that the accident happened, we sang this song in the choir I was in. The super cool part is that the song was written by a former director of the choir and was dedicated to the choir. Which also means that I got the opportunity to meet him and tell him what this song means to me.

My life, truly, is a gift of Father's love. And I will forever be grateful for the Heavenly breath that brought me here and kept me here on that spring day four years ago. I know that my life has a purpose. I'm supposed to be here.

This song has become, in a sense, my song. But today, I want to share it with you.

Just a quick p.s. I'm working on a project. If you want to be a part of it email me at elisecreates@gmail.com with a picture of you and your definition of beauty.

I may or may not have accidentally worn jeggings...

top ten fads that I made fun of, avoided at first, caved in, and eventually became obsessed fell in love with:

10. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
9. Twilight
8. German Chocolate Cake
7. Twitter
6. Psych
5. Rascal Flatts
4. Teen Girl Squad
3. Naked Juice
2. Justin Bieber
1. Jeggings

Yes. You read that right. I've fallen in love with Jeggings.
Okay, so I'm not positive if they count as Jeggings...
These ones are the culprit:

They're more spandexy than I expected. But I wore them today, and let me just tell you, they did wonders for my bottom.
In my head I was like "these are called crops, they're totally not jeggings. Even though they're the perfect marriage of jeans and leggings..."
Then, tonight at Relief Society one girl said to me "Hey, are you wearing jeggings?"

And now, please enjoy the CMT award winning Baby Biebs and Rascal Flatts song.

set the world on fire

dear friends,

I have pictures I want to share with you.
I want to tell you about my birthday, show you pictures from my birthday dinner and make your mouth water with I-went-to-cheesecake-factory-and-you-didn't jealousy.
I also want to tell you about my life.
I also want to finally make the embellished tank top I've been meaning to make.
And I want to show you guys the tutorial.

Buuuut, I just plain haven't had time.

I was going to post about my birthday dinner tonight, but I pinterested for half an hour, then the pictures wouldn't upload, and now I have to go to bed.

But you still love me, right?

Before I go, let me share some youtube vids with you. 'Cause we all know how much I love youtube.

I saw this movie a couple weeks ago. It was phenomenal.
You'll be paying $7.50 to cry your eyes out for two hours.
It's worth it.

Also, I'm suuuuuuper loving this song that plays during the closing credits.

And the artist, Britt Nicole? She's rockin' my world. I think I'ma buy her whole album.
