We like Sundays because we get to get all dressed up. Also, church isn't until one, so we have all the time in the world to get pretty and still be early.

Side note: These pictures are not from this Sunday. They are, in fact, from 3 weeks ago. But, somehow, this post managed to not get published. So, enjoy them today!

kate spade.

Sometimes, I have a really great night where I make chalkboard mugs with my friends Nichelle and Jessie. (Don't worry, that will get it's own post. :) Then, I go get hot chocolate and star gaze up Logan canyon with Ashli and my roommate, Jessi. And then, I come home just after midnight and instead of going to bed, I drool over Kate Spade's website until 1 in the morning...

please tell me this gorgeous case comes with a free iphone ;)

I need new hair.

Problem #1: I don't want to chop it off. I really like the length it's at.
Problem #2: I don't have a lot of money to spend on this 'project'.
Problem #3: I've always wondered what I'd look like blonde, but that's a very permanent drastic change. What if I hated it?

Thoughts? Feelings? Suggestions?

cheater-pants happy thursday...

Guys,

I have a confession.

Today, instead of preparing a Happy Thursday post, I read a book.

A cheesy, ridiculous, silly, delightful LDS romance novel.

Which means I have had a super happy day. But it also means, I have accomplished NOTHING of substance.

Homework, schmomework. :D

I do have happy news though!

Elise's Pieces is now officially legit. You know why? 'Cause nothing's legit until it's on facebook.

Like away. :)

grape juice & inspiration

I like my grape juice frothy.
Weird, huh?

I do though.
So, I mix my grape juice in my blender.
And savor the froth.

Just thought you might like to know.

And now, while I sit here and sip my frothy, delightful grape juice, I'm going to tell you a story.

Sunday night, I attended an institute sponsored fireside. It was called "Lord of the Small". It was themed around the song with the same title.

Praise to the Lord of the small, broken things,
Who sees the poor sparrow that cannot take wing,
Who loves the lame child, and the wretch in the street,
Who comforts their sorrows and washes their feet.

Praise to the Lord of the faint and afraid,
Who girds them with courage and lends them his aid;
He pours our His Spirit on vessels so weak
That the timid can serve and the silent can speak.

Praise to the Lord of the frail and the ill,
Who heals their afflictions, or carries them till
They leave this tired frame and to paradise fly,
To never be sick, never to die.

Praise Him, O Praise Him, all ye who yet live,
Who've been given so much and can so little give,
Our frail, lisping praise God will never despise:
He sees his dear children through mercy filled eyes.

We also had the opportunity to hear from two amazing mothers who both have children with special needs. The second speaker told us about her daughter, Kelsey, who shouldn't have been able to walk, speak, or anything like that. Her mother asked Kelsey how Jesus Christ had blessed her life. The points she made were simple, yet so profound.
  • He turns weaknesses into strengths.
  • He feels our pain and heals our suffering.
  • His example helps us to be better.
  • Praying with the Spirit helps us to resist temptation.
  • It is important to be thankful for what you have even if you don't always have what you want.
  • Gratitude is a step to exaltation.
  • Be pure. "When people do bad to you, don't do bad back. Be nice and do what the Spirit tells you because the Spirit is pure."
  • Love as Jesus Christ loves. Having love makes you better. Live with love every day.
  • Jesus Christ can help you through any challenge that you have.
There were two more that I wasn't able to write down, but I was highly impressed by her simple and pure faith, and by the incredible testimony of her mother.

Things like this make me want to be a better person. And drink more grape juice. :)

wanted: chocolate

I'm so glad it's Saturday because I don't really want to do anything today. I will, because my life has gone haywire and I need to catch up on my homework. But, I'm having a hard time feeling motivated or optimistic today.

Which of my bloggy BFFs wants to make me this delightful looking Heath tower that I found on Meg's cute blog?
Recipe
I'm joking. I think. ;)

In happier news, last night was the Institute Open House. It was a BLAST. The theme was Country Western. 2 afternoons of poster-making and cowboy hat/boot cutting out, 2 trips to Hobby Lobby and 6 Star, and 4 hours of decorating later it was a HUGE success.

I danced all night, watched people fall off the mechanical bull, and we cleaned up in half an hour. That, my friends, is a record.

I took pictures of all the decor on Amanda's camera, so as soon as I get them from her, I'll be sharing them with you.

mustaches

Meet my roommate, Janielle.

Oh, and Matt. Who is not my roommate.

We like to wear mustaches and drink Hawaiian Punch through straws.

And occasionally I grow a uni-brow.

visiting teaching hotness

In my church, we do this thing called visiting teaching. You can click on the link for the long definition if you like, but the basics are that two women are assigned to visit other women and share a spiritual/uplifting message with them.

Brynne and Emily are the beautiful ladies that my companion, Wendi, and I visit. When Wendi and I realized how much we both loved photography, we knew we had to do a photo shoot.

Best idea ever.

pom pom necklace

One time, I learned how to make this necklace on Little Miss Momma. I made one for my cousin for Christmas and then I HAD to have one for myself.

Tutorial here.
