who says?

Remember this self-image post?

As women, we have a lot of things we're insecure about.

not feeling 'good enough', not being able to get pregnant, not being married, too fat, too skinny, too tall, too short, too happy, too sad... the list goes on and on.

Apparently, we're supposed to look like this:

lose weight so you can "feel naturally sexy"
"get gorgeous skin"
"64 ways to improve your looks, style, and sex life..."

We're supposed to be meticulously photo shopped, airbrushed, with what my aunt calls "cheerleader hair" (where not a single hair is out of place).
We're supposed to have the ideal figure. Lose the love handles, the 'pooch', the thunder thighs, the 'ghetto booty'.
We need perfectly white teeth. We need manicured fingernails 24/7. We need lipo, botox, and wrinkle treatments.

You know what I say to that?
Who says?

Have you seen this video? I love it. Call me cheesy, but if you listen to the words... you'll understand.

Who says you're not worth it? Who says you're not pretty? Who says you're not beautiful?

I say we are beautiful. I say we have worth.

This is me. No make up, no editing, no nothing.
I have acne.
My teeth are not as white as I'd like them to be.
I think my eyes look funny without eyeliner/mascara.
I haven't plucked my eyebrows for a while.

I am Elise. And I say
I am beautiful.
