Reasons

I woke up today, and it was so shivery cold. I didn't want to get out of my cozy bed at all! It was raining, heading towards snow, and the skies were pretty gloomy looking. Needless to say, I was not feeling very happy.

So, instead of being a grump, I spent my walk home from campus thinking of reasons why I actually do not hate today. And as soon as I got home I proceeded to photograph those reasons and now I will share them with you. :)

Reasons why I love today:

1. Muffins.
I made tasty applesauce muffins last night. So this morning, I got to have a delicious treat for breakfast!

2. Umbrellas.
Since it was raining, I got to use my new umbrella for the first time! I bought this umbrella from old navy because I fell in love with the design and after not buying it the first time I saw it, I could not get it off my mind!
3. New Clothes.
I wore my new sweater. I got this on clearance at Forever21 months ago and have been waiting patiently to wear it.
4. Silly self-portraits and happy accidents.
I must admit, I have a secret love for taking silly self-portraits. Honestly, they never turn out terribly flattering, so I don't often share them. But I do enjoy taking them.
This picture has only been edited with a fill light. The color is %100 percent the original picture. I have no idea how I did it, but I'm green and I'm not complaining. I just think it looks neat.
5. Hot cocoa and frothy mustaches.
When I got home from class I made myself some tasty cinnamon and vanilla hot chocolate with extra froth. Then, of course, I gave myself a frothy mustache. It's absolutely unavoidable.
Also, I got to drink out of my Mill Hollow mug. That always brings me joy.

6. Pretty mountains.
Even though I'm not quite ready for snow I do have this pretty picture just outside my bedroom window. Gotta love it.

Broadening Horizons

In my Intro to Mass Communications class, we had a quest PR speaker, Julie Hollist. I actually missed the guest speaker because I was volunteering at a playground build. However, our teacher recapped Julie's lecture and one thing that really stood out to me was her suggestion to make a list of 10 ways to broaden your horizons.

So, without further ado...
Elise's Broadening Horizons List/Life goals

  1. Wilton's Masters Course - The Wilton cake decorating school is in Chicago, Illinois and their Masters Course is pretty much THE ultimate in all things cake decorating. It's just a week long program, and costs about $3000 dollars.

  2. Visit Rome - Especially once the knew temple is built. I know Rome is kind of a typical "dream vacation" city, but perhaps I'm a typical dream vacation kind of girl!

  3. Work at a quaint flower shop - And when I say quaint, I really do mean quaint. One of those cute little shops, privately owned, family business. I sure wouldn't mind working at a mainstream flower shop, but quaint is preferred.

  4. Own and run a reception center - Weddings, QuinceaƱeras, 50th anniversary parties, I want to host them all! The thing is that every career option I've ever considered, every hobby I've enjoyed the most, everything I thrive on seems to relate back to weddings and similar events. I also learned a lot about the importance of recreation in my Parks and Rec class last year. People need to enjoy themselves, and especially enjoy time with family and friends. I want to provide that opportunity for them.

  5. Go on a road trip with no predetermined destination - I want to just spontaneously pick up and go. No plans, no limits, just ultimate freedom.
Okay, I realize that only makes 5 things. Here's where you come in! I do have other ideas of broadening my horizons, however I'd still like input.
So please tell me: What are ways you've broadened your horizons? What are life goals you've accomplished and are especially proud of?
